My Fashion Thoughts

I love fashion and the ever changing options for a change every season. It’s so much fun and it’s my chance to change my style if the mood so touches me. Keeping up with the latest fashions has always been an adventure for as long as I can remember. The excitement of knowing there is an appropriate time that I can make a dramatic change, and having the season to be my reason is perfect!

When I was a child I always wanted to feel pretty and dress in my own style. I admit, it was not always the fashion that everyone else had, but as long as I felt good about it then I feel that’s really all that mattered. I felt pretty. I smiled. I was happy. I told my grandma what I wanted to wear and she usually made it for me. My grandma actually taught me how to take my own measurements and cut out my very own pattern with newspaper when I was still in elementary school. Believe it or not, I cut out the material with my pattern, sewed up my dress and wore it, and it didn’t fall apart! Oops - forgot the part where grandma put the snaps all the way down the front (like I wanted), and she did the finishing touches. That’s probably why it didn’t fall off of me. I was proud! If memory serves me right, that was my enlightenment to the world of design and fashion.

Hi ladies! It’s time to get ready to rock your wardrobe in the fall of 2011 and find your personal style. Start building your favorites now, then take it to the mix and match all the way into the spring of 2012. Every season has a reason and a new unique style to discover. 


Keep up with the latest fashions as they happen. With so many fashion statements and choices just have fun and find out what you personally enjoy wearing. Make it as simple as you want or spice it up for those special moments when you want to stand out in the crowd. Most items carry over with just adding a different scarf, belt, or even changing your jewelry from basic to bold.

This year there is a continued trend through this fall from the seventies fashion. The wide leg pants and those comfortable relaxing flares are still going strong this year. If you already have some of these in your closet, you are already on your way to adding your personal statement to update this on-going trend. Add a silk scarf or a stunning belt around that over-sized silk top, and you are ready to meet the world in style.

Silks and long soft flowing fabrics are in with a touch of deep colors. Fall 2011 color trends are leaning heavily towards the deep oranges, reds, dark blues and greens, along with a punch of stripes or plaids will give you that extra spark to your fashion statement. Gentle flowing fabrics of deep color with comfort. Deep plunging necklines with sheer fabrics to set your style apart from street wear.

Long sheer maxi dresses with elegance and comfort are covering the runway. Textures show off your soft feminine side, making your dress from casual to exotic, depending on your personal style. Keep it simple or add some bold jewelry and be noticed for who you are.

Rough it up with the biker gear and leather, along with the punk fashion, for that wild style for our new season. Genuine leather, combined with other fabrics and furs, is an in-fashion excitement and statement to show off to the world.

Genuine furs are back in, even though some prefer the faux furs as an alternative to the real thing.
